Below is a screen shot of Yahoo's new home page.
I've had a look at the page and I like the ideas on there, but there are also some serious drawbacks. The idea is this yahoo page will become users portal to the web. The place were you can start and find out about other your paces on the web. On the left you can add sites to the list so you can quickly and easily see what is happening on those sites.
The drawbacks for me though, is that there is no feed for twitter on the left. Or certainly not one I have found. This I find hard to believe. Fancy missing that site out? Also at the top of the list is yahoo mail, which is a service I don't use and don't need, yet I cannot delete it from the list. Know I understand they have decided to push it in my face if I'm to use their homepage, but because of this and the lack of integration with social networking sites, I will just avoid the site. So even though they have decided I must have yahoo mail in the list, this will probably be the last time I visit the page.
Surely in this age of the internet and content aggregation, the heavy handed tactics of deciding what you can and can't view, no longer works? I mean there are so many choices on the web when it comes to this kind of thing, that if it doesn't give you the flexibility needed on the internet today, people will just go elesewhere.
Have you had a look yet? what's you're thoughts?
