Kit Kat is 75 years old and to celebrate they have put a small selection of ads over the past 75 years up on their facebook page. It's a great little insight in to how advertising has changed over the years, because the product itself has not.

Circle Creative have put together this brilliant animation to all the british adverts we loved and forgotten about over the past few years.
It just goes to show you what excellent branding and marketing can achieve. Many references to the ads in the piece are from years ago and are out of context, but it is still easy to spot them and remeber the original ad.

Currently researching and came across these fantastic victorian tin plate advertisements.
It certainly was a hay day for new products and services. Each one 'marvelously' better than before, and many of them 'universally recommended'. Who'd have though that putting a particular flour in your bread and cakes will cure your indigestion.
Selection of old B&W victorian advertisements, taken from newspapers. I love the words and how they really build the product up. My favourite is the lemonde, which has the 'great advantage of being manufactured in Italy"… wow!
Certainly some of the wording is not something that you wouldn't be allowed to get away with nowadays.
